Message from the President - Paul Muck

Happy New Year to you all! I hope you had a safe and happy Holiday season and are looking forward to a prosperous 2017.

Let me introduce myself – I’m Paul Muck with Newmark Grubb Knight Frank and I’m the Facility Director for the Praxair Technology Center in Tonawanda NY. It is a great honor and privilege to start my term as President of BOMA Buffalo.   This is a great time for our local industry as we seem to “finally” be on a sustained road to prosperity.

My first and foremost goal as President is to continually maintain and improve the value that BOMA Buffalo brings to its membership. We have a fantastic leadership team – our Board of Directors are all very committed and engaged.  And I can’t say enough about the great job Jennifer Aiple does as our Executive Director – she is one of the key reasons for our success.  These people all work very hard to provide the programs and services that our members enjoy – and the proof is in the membership growth we’ve seen over the last few years.

But we won’t rest on our achievements. We know that your company has choices regarding discretionary expenses such as dues – and we want to make sure there’s no doubt that supporting BOMA Buffalo is an investment that pays for itself ever year.  Our board is focused on this goal as we carry out our duties, and we welcome any and all suggestions from you on how we can create value.

I’m very excited about what’s in store for our organization this year and hope you’ll join us for as many events and functions as possible. See you all soon!

BOMA Supported ADA Legislation Introduced in Congress

On January 24, Congressman Ted Poe (R-Texas) introduced H.R. 620, the ADA Education and Reform Act, aimed at curbing frivolous lawsuits related to the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). These so-called “drive-by” lawsuits involve suing business owners for financial redress over highly technical ADA violations. Often, these lawsuits are not intended to increase accessibility, but to pressure businesses to pay large settlements, including significant attorney’s fees.
