BOMA Buffalo's education mission is to offer courses in a classroom setting that are taught by qualified instructors to allow you to pursue one of the coveted RPA, FMA, SMT, or SMA designations, in addition to other professional development offerings. These classes provide relevant, up-to-date material, networking opportunities with your peers, and equally important, the opportunity to learn from qualified, experienced experts how to apply these facts in the real world.

The Real Property Administrator (RPA®) designation serves the educational needs of both third-party property managers and corporate property managers. It covers every aspect of property management, from the basics of building design, operation and maintenance to the specialized areas of commercial property law, marketing and leasing, and asset management. Through this program, property managers learn to maximize the net income of any property, be it one building or an entire portfolio.
The Facilities Management Administrator (FMA®) designation program benefits new and experienced facilities professionals alike. Through its in-depth coverage of critical-need topics, including planning and project management, facilities technologies, finance and investment, and environmental health and worker safety, the FMA program helps position facilities managers as key strategic contributors within their organizations.
The Systems Maintenance Technician (SMT®) and Systems Maintenance Administrator (SMA®) designations provide firm foundations required for running sound, efficient, cost-effective maintenance departments. These programs cover every major building operating system form HVAC to plumbing to electrical to overall control systems.
CERTIFICATES
Whether you are new to the commercial real estate industry or a professional looking to enhance your skills and gain recognition, BOMI’s certificate programs provide participants with fundamental knowledge to better understand job responsibilities, grow in their expertise, and progress in their careers. To earn a BOMI certificate, participants must complete three courses and pass an exam at the end of each course to demonstrate their understanding of program content. Certificates may be earned until a designation is achieved.
Property Administrator Certificate: If you are new to the commercial real estate industry or looking to upgrade your skills, this is the certificate to begin your journey toward a BOMI designation. The PAC educates property and facility managers on how to operate and maintain building systems and maximize building efficiency and cost-effectiveness.
Property Management Financial Proficiency (PMFP): The PMFP Certificate is specifically designed for people who manage real estate assets. Whether you work for a building owner or a property management and financial analysis firm, the PMFP Certification will help you achieve the knowledge and recognition necessary in this fast-paced career. From improving overall efficiency to making confident investment decisions, this program provides the knowledge you need to properly manage your assets, add value to your portfolio, and contribute to the profitability of your company.
Facilities Management Certification (FMC): The FMC program provides an overview of information that is vital to running an efficient facility. Upon completion of this program, you will have a comprehensive understanding of how to manage, operate, and maintain cost-effective facilities that operate at peak performance levels.
Building Systems Maintenance Certification (SMC): The SMC program provides in-depth information on key building principles for professionals who operate and maintain multiple building systems. Participants will learn about the skills required for building operators and how to efficiently manage key building systems to create a productive and comfortable indoor environment, including an understanding of HVAC, plumbing, energy management, water treatment, and other building systems.
Building Energy Certificate (BEC): The BEC program teaches professionals the necessary skills to enable the implementation of sustainability efforts in the built environment touching on key learning objectives in electrical systems, HVAC, air quality, water treatment, alarm systems, and energy management.
